HIS EYES!

I have been thinking this week of the concept of the eyes of the LORD going throughout the earth, and in contrast, the devil walking about the earth seeking whom he may devour. The two Scriptures are:

Job 1:7 and Job 2:2 -
" And the LORD said unto Satan, whence comest thou ( where have you been?)
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking up and down in it."

This powerful entity has nothing better to do than walk around on the earth? What is he looking for. We all know. Since the fall of the first Adam, he was judged by God to eat the dust of the earth. Mankind was made of dust; God breathed His Spirit into mankind and we became a living being. Created in the image of God. This is the anger of Satan; that beings can be inhabited and indwelled with the very Spirit of God. It must be a great affront to this former great creation who fell from grace for his pride and arrogance against the Almighty God.

Mankind's enemy is real. His sole desire is to destroy as many human beings as he can. As Christ said, Satan is the father of murder and lies. We are the battleground of this struggle between God and Satan. The Apostle Peter admonished Believers to be sober, be vigilant; because our adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Given the hatred of our adversary, we can take great comfort that we have many promises that are more powerful than the threats we face. Zechariah 4:10 says the eyes of the LORD also run to and fro through the whole earth. Psalm 101:6 says His eyes are upon the faithful that they may dwell with Him, seek perfection in Him, and serve Him. Our perfection and service is through our dedication to Messiah and our heart felt appreciation for His sacrifice on our behalf.

Further confidence comes from the promises of God in other passages of Scripture:

Proverbs 5:21
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He pondereth all his doings.

Psalm 66:7
He ruleth by His power forever,
His eyes behold the nations;
let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

Psalm 101:6
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land that they may dwell with Me,
he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve Me...( our perfection is in Messiah)

Although Satan walks in our midst seeking to bring evil, Messiah has told those who follow Him that we are His friends if we do what He commands; He does not call us servants but friends because a servant does not know what his LORD does, but He has made all things know to us from our Father in Heaven. (John 15:14)

The eyes of God run to and fro throughout the earth to show Himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him. God's eyes miss nothing!

Ezekiel 10 speaks of cherubim in heaven surrounded by four wheels. Their bodies, their backs, their hands, their wings and the wheels they rode upon were all full of eyes! Each part of the being had eyes. Thinking of this Scripture I am astounded at how evil and deceptive the mystery of iniquity must be to require the ministering beings from the heavens to be encompassed with such eye sight. In this context, as Believers we can rest assured that absolutely nothing slips by or surprises our Father.

The eyes of the LORD are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the LORD is against them that do evil. ( 1 Peter 3:12)

The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.
(Psalm 34:15)

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)

For the eyes of the LORD run to and from throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9

Messiah's eyes in several places are described as lamps and flames of fire.
(Revelation 4:8 and 5:6)

What about MY EYES?

As King David cried, "Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD;
For He shall pluck my feet out of the net." (Psalm 25:15)

As the enemy walks about as a roaring lion, we take great confidence in the all seeing, all encompassing, all comforting fact that God is fully aware of each and every event. He has made us a promise that the angel of His Presence guards and watches out for our wellbeing. He misses nothing!
