Being Established

I am finding out that there are times in our walk with God that it seems as if nothing is happening. It seems that He has detached Himself from the affairs of our daily lives. I have experienced this on a personal level and it has given me great consternation; especially when the enemy seems to, no, the enemy does come in like a flood.

I truly believe that this happens after we have been in true fellowship with our Father who is in heaven. The result of close fellowship and the detachment, or so it seems as thus, is a time of fortification and the concrete, as it were, of our belief, love and dependence upon Him to harden and become a permanent part of us.

While reading today I think that King David also had these seasons when he felt as if he was abandoned and on his own. It is very important to examine how he handled his times of uncertainty. And, these times will surely come. They have come upon me unexpectedly and have truly troubled my spirit greatly at times. Here is what David did, and said. He remembered the past actions and graciousness of God and meditated upon them ~

PSALM 77

" I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice;
and He gave ear unto me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:
my sore ran in the night, and ceased not:
my soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God and was troubled:
I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed." Selah. (mediate upon this)

" Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my song in the night:
I commune with mine own heart:
and my spirit made diligent search.
Will the Lord cast off forever? and will He be favourable no more?"

Is His mercy clean gone forever? doth His promise fail for evermore?

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah. (meditate upon this.)

David's answer to himself ~

" And I said, This is my infirmity; but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the works of the LORD; surely I will remember Thy wonders of old."

" I will meditate also of all Thy work, and talk of Thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great as God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: Thou hast declared Thy strength among the people."

" Thou hast with Thine arm redeemed Thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. The waters saw Thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: Thine arrows also went abroad."

" The voice of Thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightening's lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. Thy way is in the sea, and Thy path in the great waters, and Thy footsteps are not known. Thou leddest Thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron."

His ways ARE in the great waters. His ways are in the midst of great lightening's and storm. He rides upon the wings of the wind. During times of great difficulty and tumult, remember His deeds and faithfulness on our behalf in the past. We must remind ourselves that He is ever faithful and true. I love the old hymn TO GOD BE THE GLORY, I have been singing it all morning. It applies to the difficulties King David was experiencing when he penned Psalm 77 and it is ever more relevant to His children today ~

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

To God be the glory,

great things He hath done,

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

Who yielded His life and atonement for sin

And opened the Life gate that all may go in.

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD, LET THE EARTH HERE HIS VOICE!

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD, LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE!

O COME TO THE FATHER THROUGH JESUS THE SON,

AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood! To every believer the promise of God;

The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD,

LET THE EARTH HEAR HIS VOICE!

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD,

LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE! O COME TO THE FATHER THROUGH JESUS THE SON, AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,

And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer and higher and greater will be, Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD, LET THE EARTH HEAR HIS VOICE!

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD, LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE!

O COME TO THE FATHER THROUGH JESUS THE SON,

AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE!
