Daniel's Spirit

Anyone who has attended Sunday School or Bible studies, even as a child, has heard the incident when King Belshazzar of Babylon had a great party in his palace, using the cups and bowls from the Temple in Jerusalem. This heathen king of Babylon was the son of the renowned King Nebuchadnezzar. The Prophet Daniel lived during both of these heathen rulers.

What I found of great interest was the description given of Daniel when he was called to interpret the mysterious hand writing on the plaster wall of the palace. During the reveilry a hand appeared and writing suddenly appeared on the wall; out of no where. King Belshazzar was greatly afraid and it says his legs started to buckle under him. His wife tried to calm the king when none of the Babylonian wise men or soothsayers could interpret the script on the wall.

She said in Daniel 5 that " There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him..."

She said this Daniel contained an excellent spirit, knowledge and understanding, interpreting of dreams and showing of hard sentences" and what I found very interesting in her statement is that Daniel could also "dissolve doubts..." (Daniel 5:12).

How we need this Spirit today! From personal experience, I can receive what I know is a promise from God and immediately the enemy or my own mind starts to allow doubt to start floating in. Daniel's ability to remove all doubt in regard to what God says to us in prayer or in His written promises is what I need!

In a display of God's setting the scene for Daniel and the handwriting on the wall, the script was in a language that even the wise men of Babylon did not understand. God could have written His virdict on Belshazzar's kingdom in a language all at the party could have understood. But He wrote the phrase " MENE, MENE,TEKELM, UPHARSIN" that only the Spirit of God in Daniel could interpret.

God's children will not be forgotten. He will see to it that His children are eventually acknowledged by the rulers of the kingdoms of this world. The same Spirit that rested upon Daniel is available to all; if we would just yield, honor and obey Him. The excellent Spirit, the Spirit of knowledge and understanding of interpreting of dreams and hard sentences, and to dispell doubts is here even now for us!

This same Spirit that raised up Christ from the dead dwells in our mortal bodies! He will operate in us to the level that we surrender to Him.
